Job Summary:
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automotive service department, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, and profitability. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and exceptional problem-solving skills to effectively manage a team of auto mechanics and deliver high-quality service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and lead the service department in accordance with company policies and procedures.
2. Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service by resolving customer issues and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
3. Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, job assignments, and work order management to optimize workflow and meet customer expectations.
4. Monitor and analyze service department performance metrics, such as labor efficiency, productivity, and profitability, and implement necessary improvements.
5. Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the service department.
6. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate auto mechanics, ensuring the team's knowledge and skills align with industry standards and customer needs.
7. Provide technical guidance and support to auto mechanics, assisting with complex repairs and troubleshooting.
8. Maintain accurate records of service department activities, including customer interactions, repairs, and parts inventory.
9. Manage the service department budget, controlling costs, and optimizing resources while ensuring quality service delivery.
10. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in automotive technology preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Service Manager or similar role in an automotive service environment.
3. Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems and components, including diagnostics and repairs.
4. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
5. Outstanding customer service and communication skills, with the ability to effectively handle customer complaints and inquiries.
6. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
7. Proficient in using automotive service software and systems to manage work orders, parts inventory, and customer data.
8. Solid understanding of financial principles and experience managing budgets.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize workload effectively.
10. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
